Two ideas for making crafts with washi tapes - Easy DIY

In this tutorial I bring you two ideas to do crafts with washi tapes. The washi tape is a decorative adhesive tape which is made like masking tape or carpenter's tape, but with colored drawings and patterns.

Birthday card

We will start by creating a birthday greeting card. Let's see below the materials you need and the step by step.

Materials

  • White cardboard
  • Washi tape in three different designs
  • Washi tape in gold, yellow or orange tone
  • Marker
  • Scissors

Step by step

To make the birthday card Glue a few inches of each of the three washi tapes you have chosen. Glue them vertically and separated by a couple of centimeters between one strip and another. In this way we will simulate the candles on a cake. Cut the ribbons at different heights so that the candles appear taller than others.

We are going to do the flames of the candles. To do this, take your washi tape in a golden, yellow or orange tone. Cut three drops with the scissors and glue them on the strips that you just put on the card.

And you just have to write the message what you want, and you will have ready birthday congratulation. It's great to do with children, even for invitations of the birthday party.

Mat

The second idea is a mat made with flat sticks or popsicle sticks. You'll see how useful.

Materials

  • Eight flat sticks or popsicle sticks
  • washi tape
  • Gun silicone

Step by step

You should start by taking six of the eight polo sticks that you have prepared. Those will be the ones you are going to cover with washi tape. Glue them from one side of the sticks to the other, making sure that they are not twisted so that the wood is not visible.

For the ends of the sticks, fold the washi tape down the curve, in this way it will take the curved shape and the bottom part will not be seen. You can also cut it with scissors, but this is the easiest and fastest way to hide that part.

Now that you have all six lined sticks, it's time to unite them with the other two and create the structure of the mat. Place one of the unlined toothpicks under the six lined and vertically arranged toothpicks. Put them in such a way that they are at the same distance from each other and go from one end to the other of the stick placed horizontally. This way you will know where to paste each one. Apply silicone in gun in each of the joints and glue all the sticks. Also glue another stick horizontally at the other end to join the two parts of the lined sticks.

And you will have your mat ready to use and protect any surface, but best of all, it is also decorative.
