DIY: Mantilla doll brooch with eva rubber

Mantilla brooch in eva rubber

On Thursday and Good Friday in Seville it is traditional for women to dress in a mantilla. This clothing is a sign of mourning for the death of Jesus Christ, so these Christians must respect and worship as tradition marks.

This tradition goes back many years and, despite the changes in fashion, the dress protocol it is strictly followed. The dress must be long or French sleeves, totally black, length below the knees, without necklines, and plain fabrics, without any gauze, prints and others. Discreet makeup, normal heels and a handbag.

Materials

  • Pencil and paper.
  • Scissors.
  • Black eva rubber and leather.
  • Needle and black thread.
  • Glue.
  • Piece of lace fabric.
  • Pin.
  • Fine-tipped black marker.

Process

First, we will have to draw on a sheet of paper the doll template. We will cut it and we will pass it to the skin-colored eva rubber. In addition, we will also pass it over the black eva rubber but without cutting the legs, leaving this part straight, since this will be the dress.

We will sew the dress to the body with black thread of the brooch. In addition, we will glue the shoes and the hair on the brooch, and also a piece of eva rubber, which will be the mantilla where the mantilla is posed.

Then we will sew the lace to the brooch, in such a way that it is collected as is the tradition. Finally, we will sew the pin from the back and paint the wrist fasteners.
