Today I'm sharing a very easy craft that you can do with children and that can be used for many things: making a card, a gift, a game… It's a DIY scratch-off card. You can hide a secret message, and to guess what it is, you have to scratch it off.
In this case, I used them to make this year's Advent calendar. They're for a game where each day you can choose between two to see what surprise you get. If you'd like to see how it's done, I'll show you the step-by-step process:
Makings:
To carry out this scratchcard we will need the following materials:
- Color cardboard.
- Ballpoint.
- Candle.
- Gray acrylic paint.
- Dishwasher.
- Brush.
- Scissors
Processing:
We'll start by making the card: to do this, we'll cut out a rectangle measuring seven by fourteen centimeters. We'll draw two circles, using a glass as a guide (in my case, you could use a compass, a printer, or any round object you have at home). Next, we'll write the message we want to hide inside each circle.
The next step is to rub a candle over the written message , inside the circle. You can also use white wax, but it looks better with the candle when you scratch it.
Next, prepare the paint mixture with a few drops of dish soap, mixing well. You can use metallic paint, or any other color; the only thing to keep in mind is that it should be opaque and cover the written message completely.
We'll apply the paint inside the circle, making sure to completely cover what we've written. Then we need to let it dry for at least two hours.
Finally, we will scratch the one we like best with a coin and discover the secret message.
