In this tutorial I teach you to create some earrings with flat wooden sticks or also known as polo sticks. You have many ways to decorate them and they will be really cheap.
Materials
To do the flat stick earrings of wood you will need the following materials:
- Bases for earrings
- Rings
- Flat wooden sticks or popsicle sticks
- Scissors
- Acrylic paint
- Brushes
Step by step
Get your sticks and scissors. You will have to cut them into the desired shape. I have made them finished in a point and squares at the top.
These types of sticks are very soft and can be easily cut with scissors. But be careful, because they are also quite fragile and can split where they should not when you are cutting them.
To join them to the bases of the earrings you must make a hole in them. With a sharp object you simply have to press and without much effort you can open a small hole that will serve to insert the ring and mount the earrings.
As when cutting them, you must be very careful so that the wood does not open when you insert the punch to create the hole.
When you have the shape, the most fun will come, decorating them. You can paint them with acrylic paint. I wanted to paint only one part, and so on the other side you can see the wood. For the top lines to come out straight, it is best to use masking tape. You must stick its edge where you want the painted part to end, thus covering the part that you want to be made of wood.
Paint where there is no adhesive tape without fear that the straight lines will not come out.
When the paint is dry, remove the adhesive tape.
You can also paint other details. In one of them I have added a few dots.
And you only have to pass the ring of the earrings through the hole that you made in the beginning to the wood. Help yourself with pliers to open and close this ring.
