Hand-painted t-shirt with children's drawing

Hand painted t-shirt

Hello everybody. In this tutorial I will show you how I made a hand painted t shirt.

We can turn a simple t-shirt into a personalized t-shirt by ourselves, with the drawing or motif that we like the most. I have converted a simple t-shirt to a hand-painted t-shirt with children's drawings

Materials

  • A light-colored T-shirt without prints or drawings.
  • Textile paints.
  • Brushes.
  • Permanent or textile marker.
  • Leaves.
  • Light colored tracing paper.

Procedure to have our t-shirt painted by hand

To start I have chosen a drawing child because the t-shirt was for a boy or a girl, I have drawn it on a sheet of paper and transferred it to the t-shirt with yellow tracing paper, which we can find in any stationery store. I once had the drawing on my shirt. I went over gently with a marker black to better see the limits of the drawing.

The next thing I did was start painting, carefully since we will use textile paint and if we splash the shirt or make a mistake we will not be able to correct it. Little by little I was painting the drawing with each color until I had it complete and hung it up to let it dry.

It is very important to let the paint dry well, in this way we will know if we have to give another coat of paint to the drawing or certain parts or if we can review it and do the details.

In my case, once the hand-painted t-shirt was dry, I went over the drawing again with a permanent textile marker and added details such as a name or small Decorative elements hand-sewn.

A tip so that the painting of our hand-painted t-shirt lasts longer is to finish it and that it is well dry, turn the shirt over and put a sheet of paper between the drawing and the back of the shirt, pass it one iron gently and at low temperatureThis will allow the paint to seal and last longer. It is also advisable to wash the shirt inside out and do not tumble dry.

This tutorial is a very simple idea and very easy to do, it is simply to have patience and care so that the result is perfect. In the photo gallery I leave you some hand-painted t-shirt that I have made.

I hope you liked and served the tutorial and that you leave me comments.

Hello Celia: I liked your work.
What type of paint do you use? I have tried several times and have had problems with too much liquid (I could not get the paint to stay inside the edges).
    Thank you
