Materials you will need to learn how to make a bag organizer
- Fabrics of different colors or prints of the style you like the most.
- 0,25 meters of canvas in the color you want.
- Thermo-adhesive wadding and interlining.
- Scissors.
- Pins and thread.
- Tweezers.
- Universal needle number 90/14.
- Two metal washers.
- Two 30 centimeter metal zippers.
- 0,25 meters of white or gray mesh.
- Some bias strips.
- A sewing machine.
- An iron.
Steps to learn how to make a bag organizer
- To start, take the mesh and place a bias strip on one of its long sides. (Piece A) Then take the fabric for the inside pocket and place a bias strip on one of its long sides. Hold both pieces with tweezers and reserve them to pass them through the sewing machine later. (Part F)
- Then take one of the fabrics and glue the thermo-adhesive wadding on the reverse side. At the same time, we will put an interlining on the wadding so that the pocket becomes a little more rigid and so that the interior has a better finish. (Part B)
- Next, apply steamless heat with the iron on these pieces. You must also add a bias strip to the set and secure it with tweezers.
- It is time to put piece B through the sewing machine, sewing with a 2,5 mm straight stitch and a size 90/14 universal needle.
- Now it's time to assemble the exterior of the bag organizer. The mesh goes on top of the printed fabric. And both from piece C. We center well and then topstitch with a 3mm straight stitch right in the middle to create two pockets with the mesh fabric and another two with the normal fabric.
- Then you have to prepare the inside pocket of the bag organizer. To do this we will work with pieces E and F. Glue piece F over piece E and make a side stitch to insert, for example, pens.
- Let's move on to placing the zipper. Take a strip of fabric and fold it over on itself to put it over the top of the zipper to cover it up. Give it a few stitches on the machine to hold it down.
- We take the zipper and place it right against the right side of piece B. The metal zipper stop that is hidden under piece I is located approximately two centimeters from the edge.
- Now you have to take one of the pieces D and place it right side up. Make sure they are aligned and put the tweezers on. Then go to the machine and with the zipper presser we sew right in the part of the clips, removing them little by little.
- Next we now sew the other part. We place the other piece D underneath right against right with the other piece D and on top we must place piece E that already has piece F sewn with the side pocket for the pens. Then align it well and put in the tweezers. Then sew along the part of the pins while they are removed.
- Now on both sides of the zipper we will pass a backstitch very close to the edge of the fabric, about 2 or 3 millimeters. Use a straight stitch.
- Close pieces D on themselves and stitch along the sides of the bag organizer approximately half a centimeter from the edge of the fabric. With these you will be able to have the piece united.
- Then you will have to replicate exactly the same piece.
- Finally, we have to make the bellows of the organizer, which will be the piece that joins the edges and the lower part to the other two that have the pockets.
- To do this you will need two strips of canvas of the color you want and a small strip with which you will form loops. To do this, we simply tuck the sides inward. Then we fold it back on itself as if it were a kind of bias and on the machine we sew lengthwise and then cut the fabric in half.
- Take the washers. Reserve one for later and use the other to attach to the fabric. We place the loop 2 centimeters from the edge of the fabric and close this end.
- Then we will go over the loop several times with the sewing machine to secure that point well. And we turn right.
- Now we will stitch approximately half a centimeter along the sides of the long strip of fabric to keep those parts together while we sew them to the other two parts of the bag organizer.
- Then take the canvas strip and align it with the side of the bag organizer using some tweezers. When we reach the corner to be able to sew the angle, we will make a small notch right in the area of the strip that corresponds to this angle. The same step will be done in the other angle. Put it into a machine.
- It is time to take the other loop and place it on the fabric and then place it 2 centimeters from the edge of the canvas right at the other end where the other loop is located.
- It will be time to place the other side of the bag organizer and sew it by machine, repeating the same process we did previously.
- The last step will be to place some bias strips along all the edges of the bag organizer. Help yourself with some tweezers to hold the bias binding to the edges before passing it through the sewing machine. Later you will have to remove them little by little when you sew the bias.
