Today in CraftsON we will learn how to make a Japanese binding to make your own notebooks.
Japanese binding is characterized by the fact that the inner sheets are sewn together with the covers.
To make the Japanese binding you need:
- Pencil.
- Ruler.
- Rope.
- Hilo.
- Liquid glue.
- Punch or hole punch.
- Chopsticks.
- Tweezers.
- The sheets and covers that you want to bind.
Binding process:

- On a sheet that you want to bind, mark one centimeter on each side and divide the rest into four equal parts. (So that the holes are in odd number).
- Gather all the sheets and hold with tweezers to make the holes with the die or punch. (If you can not all at once, you see gathering and doing parts).

- Use a sheet as a template to mark on the covers, as you will probably have to leave half an inch on each side.
- Make the holes now.

- Repeat the same operation with the other lid.
- Put the leaves inside the covers and find that all the holes match. To do this, place two toothpicks at the ends of the holes as seen in the image.

- Subsequently held with tweezers so that it does not move.
- Then start sewing: pass the needle with the string through the back in the middle hole.

- All stitches have to be at right angles and look the same in front as in back.
- It's about going from the center to the side. Go past the stitches to the other side and finish in the center.

- When you're done, if you've done the same, you should have finished where you started.
- To close, make a tight double one.

- Put some liquid glue to fix well.
- Cut off what is left over.

Following these steps you can make bindings of any size and thus make your own notebooks. Journals, books, photo albums ...
