If you like decorative crafts, here we have a great idea. We will can recycle a large glass jar and to be able to give it a touch of macramé to give it a look decorative. We will knot the rope to give it a braided and knotted appearance, which we can place in any corner of the house. You can finally use it to put a small candle or fill it with flowers or whatever you like.
If you like crafts with jar decoration you can see our embossed vintage jar.
The materials that I have used for the glass jar:
- 1 large glass jar
- White or beige macramé rope
- Hot silicone and her gun
- Scissors
You can see this craft step by step in the following video:
First step:
We will start by measuring a piece of rope around the top of the glass jar. It will need to be the same diameter and a bit larger for knotting later. This will be the main rope and where we will knot the following strings.
Second step:
We return to measure along the jar with the rope They will measure the same as the height of the jar and something more to tie the knots. In this case the strings will be twice the size we have taken, because we will double them. We will cut many more ropes with the same length, since they will be the ones that we will tie to the main rope.
Third step:
We catch the main rope and stretch it. We take one of the rope and bend it. The folded part will be on top and we will place it below the main rope. After we will try to knot the curved part passing the other end of the rope through the eyelet that has been formed. We pull it and We formalize the knot. We will do the same technique along the rope with the remaining ropes.
Fourth step:
We take the main rope with the tied ropes and We will roll it up in the upper part of the glass jar. To fix it we will knot it and cut the remaining tails of the rope.
Fifth step:
We are going to knot two ropes or what is the same, make a knot with two ropes. It has to be one string from the side of one of the top knots and another string from the side of another top knot. We will do the same with the remaining strings. We go down one level and we will do the same with the same ropes that are left down. In the end we have to have four levels of knots left.
Fifth step:
At the base of the glass jar we will stick the strings with hot silicone. You have to go tensing at the same time that it sticks. In order not to be damaged by the heat of the silicone, we will force it to stick with the help of some things, in my case with scissors.
Step Six:
We will tie a rope to the sides of the glass jar so that it can be used as a hanging mobile. We can use it as a decorative jar, to put dried flowers or to introduce a candle.
Hello, the glass jar turned out super nice on you, jute ropes are in trend to make crafts and with glass it looks great. Thanks for sharing, cheers!
