Learn to add by carrying with this craft

This craft is great for children to learn to add with carry. In addition, the craft can be done with the child so that they know what the procedure is and also, so that they feel involved in their own learning. The craft is somewhat laborious so it is important that there is an adult accompanying you, guiding you and helping you throughout the process.

Once you start doing the craft, explain to the child why each step is carried out, so that they will better understand the process of the addition carried out. Read on to make this ideal addition craft.

What do you need for the craft

  • A carton
  • Scissors / cutter
  • 1 ruler
  • 1 post it
  • Black marker

How to make the craft

First you have to divide the cardboard into two sections as you see in the image, in one part we will make the structure of the sum and in the other part we will make the circles for the numbers. We will make two rows of numbers from 0 to 9 in small coins.

Once we have it we will cut it out. Then in the part that we have left of the other part of the cardboard we will make a structure like the one you see in the image. To be able to put the part of the tens, of the units, the result and the process of doing the carry so that the child understands it.

Finally, once we have everything ready and cut (you can do it with scissors but it is easier if you do it with a cutter) we will begin to do the sums with the cardboard coins. In the tens you can make a small sign so that the child knows where to place them.

Once the craft is finished you will only have to explain to the little one how the carried sums are and have him do them as you see in the image. It is easy for you and you will learn the process very quickly.
