Recycling: Ladybugs with Egg Cartons

Ladybugs with egg boxes

The truth is that with the egg cartons you can do countless things, just add imagination and surely you will come up with one idea after another. In this case, for example, we can use them to make funny animals to play with with our children. Children love animals and it is a fun way for them to learn to tell the difference between them.

Since spring is beginning soon, we are going to make some very funny and brightly colored ladybugs. To do this, we will cut out the bulging part of the egg carton. We color with tempera of the desired color and let it dry.

Once dry, we paint the dots with black tempera on top and let them dry again. If we have a silicone gun, and if not, with glue, we glue the pompom (as a head) to the cardboard that we have previously painted (which acts as the body).

Once glued, we add some funny antennae to the head with some tiny wire or with the end of a tiny straw that we cover with black wool. And finally we glue the eyes, it will be much funnier with animated eyes.

Both the pom-poms and the eyes can be easily found in any one-hundred-dollar store, but in the event that we do not have pom-poms we can always draw a face on a colored cardboard, cut it out and glue it to the body. That easy!. We can now play with our children and with the new animals. In addition to learning this new animal (or insect in this case) we can also play with the colors with which we paint them.
