How to transform a fish tank into a decoration object

crafts with fish tanks

Long time they gave me a dwarf fish tank with a fish inside. I am an animal lover, and total… I couldn't bear to see the fish locked in a fish tank that was little bigger than a glass of water. In the end I ended up buying an even bigger fish tank, and the poor animal is still there. Free to live in a matchbox almost, hahaha.

So I kept a mini fish tank, where sometimes I thought about doing something with it. Maybe turn it over with thread, paint it, use it as a pot ... Until today, I decided to simply transform it into a decoration object. It could look good. And I liked the result so much for its simplicity, that I wanted to bring you this idea, beyond the crafts that I usually bring. I show you how I did it!

materials to decorate a fish tank

Materials

  • Small fishbowl
  • Small red or other colored stones
  • Scrap of red cardboard or the same color as the pebbles
  • Toothpick
  • Green twig (I used a cypress one)
  • White twine or thread
  • Scissors
  • Silicone

Process

quick crafts to do at home

  1. Start by placing the pebbles that you have selected at the bottom. Tiny stones are preferable, since the size of the fish tank is.
  2. Then, unravel the string that you have selected. If you don't have one, use some white yarn, but the string will stiffen the bow. Cut the scrap cardboard in the shape of a heart.
  3. Make a loop with the remains of thread to the toothpick of teeth. Later glue it with silicone to the heart that you have cut out. Set it at the angle you want while it dries

Y this is the result after placing the toothpick and the twig! I put it in the hall to make it look there, and I like the touch of joy it has given it. Sometimes we come across things, which may have a better use than they were made for. And this mini-fish tank proves it to us.
