Succeed making wool pompoms, they are great and very original. It seems that they do not go out of style and we also have more and more materials at our fingertips to be able to make them. Nor can we do without tassels to decorate bags, purses, make key rings ..., with those bright colors that can also be at hand in bazaars.
With the small red pompoms I have emulated some cherries and made a keychain, trying it is very easy and if you have any questions you can follow their tutorial step by step and with a demonstration video.

These are the materials that I have used:
- cardboard
- wool, if possible fine
- pearl type thread
- pencil
- a compass or something round to make circles
- colored wooden ball ornaments to make the pendants
- hooks to make pendants or keychains
To make the pompoms:
First step:
In a carton we draw two circles with a compass of the size that we want, or we use something round to make them.
We cut out the circles and we draw them a smallest inner circle so we can cut it out. With the holes already made we cut into a side part from the cardboard to the center hole.
Second step:
We roll the wool around the cardboard. Try to roll with several layers of wool, the more wool you use, the thicker it will be. When you have done all the possible turns, cut the thread that is tied to the skein and put the scissors between the two cartons to cut the wool.
Third step:
We catch a long piece of wool and we put it between the cartons to tie the pompom. In this way it will be well attached. We knot tight and if possible with a couple of knots.
We separate the cartons and we will be able to see how the pompom has been, we retouch with scissors.
Second way to make pompoms (small):
First step:
We choose a small fork and we started roll up the wool around its spikes. When we reach the desired thickness we cut the end of the wool that goes towards the skein and we tie it with the other end of wool that was left at the beginning.
We cut another piece of wool and put it between the spikes of the fork and we roll around of the wool that was already curled on the fork. It we squeeze hard and we knotted twice. We cut the excess threads.
Second step:
We take out the pompom almost ready from the fork and we will shape it by cutting the sides. We open and shape it and we touch up the pompom with the scissors if necessary.
To make the tassels
First step:
We cut out a square piece of cardboard not too big. We take the thread and we started to spin around it at the widest part of the cardboard. We will give enough laps to assess the thickness of the tassel. We cut the thread that is suspended towards the skein and we take out the tied of the carton. We cut a piece of thread long enough to wind it in one of the turns of the tassel, if it could be a double turn.
Second step:
We take a thread of different color and we will give it back in the central part but upwards of the tassel. Also we will cut the other end of the tassel so that the threads are suspended
Second step:
We decorate the tassel, in this case I have chosen some colored wooden balls. Either we pass the threads between the hole of the ball by hand or we use a needle wide enough to pass these threads between its buttonhole, and narrow enough so that it can pass inside the ball. We also add another of the pompoms that we have learned to make and finally finish decorating with more balls y a closure to form a pendant.
